Basic Shirt

Shirts were to men what shifts were to women: An all-purpose, under-all, loose fitting, comfortable companion to bare skin. It insulates the body from excessive heat or cold, and wicks out moisture, protecting the outer garment - which is, normally, most costly and difficult to maintain. Ours is a classic, simple, ample, all time swashbuckling, 100% cotton, washable, bleachable (white) shirt. In a wide range of colors, neck and cuffs gathered into permanent edges, extended into ties (a nice way to meet the girl next door, wrist extended, “Excuse me, could you please?”, but you can do it yourself.) It ages beautifully too, gathers settling into a fine crepe. Ironing would spoil it! Machine wash, drip dry.
